Why the job you choose does not matter

It’s sometimes hard to understand that the only difference between a civilian job and a military job is the uniform. You are guaranteed to have multiple jobs in the Marines by the time you graduate basic training. This is actual insanely practical, as it is very wise to have multiple jobs in the civilian world as well. Currently, I have three jobs.

I am an Independent Insurance Agent.

I am also a PFC of Marines

And I am also Priest.

I’ve been an Insurance Agent longer than I’ve been a Marine, and I only became a Priest recently.

As an Insurance Agent, I’m working on my next promotion within my organization. As a Marine, I’m working on my next promotion within my organization, and as a Priest, i’m working on my next promotion within my organization.

Despite having the documentation and knowing the facts, I still get extremely emotional talking about these subjects. The way you make money in these fields isn’t always as cut and dry as I would like, so it’s a balancing act between what I’m paid to do and what I’m paid not to do. I’m not in love with money so I usually only work hard enough to break even, especially since it feels like every time I work super hard in an effort to get ahead, I get nowhere, and then burnout after working too hard.
