A History of Blood – Vol. 3, Chapter 18
My first social event since moving to Tampa, FL and partnering up with Link Management.

Déjà vu
Iāve been in the Insurance space for about 8 years now, with my career beginning on April 16, 2018, and since then, Iāve spent a lot of time working with different sales and marketing firms while adjusting to the extremely high learning curve involved with selling life insurance and annuities and/or building high volume sales teams. Over the course of said career, Iāve attended a lot of social events, but last night was still special for a few different reasons.
For starters, it was my first event after closing a deal on a new campaign AND after getting my 2-15, which the Florida equivalent of my Maryland Life & Health Insurance License. Apparently, the Florida version also includes Variable Annuities by default, which Iāll probably look into after Iāve had time to figure out the basic landscape of not only Tampa, but the greater Florida area.

My favorite things
The most notable thing about the event was the people. The Link Management team is fairly small, being only about 10 or so people, but everyone is really kind and extremely generous. Itās also a fairly diverse cast; while the Head Honchos are from Connecticut, there are a few team members from Florida, a team member from Louisiana, a team member from Russia (and of course thereās me, from New York) and Iām sure thereās even more diversity, but I havenāt really had time to do as much networking as Iād like, due to how fast-paced everything is.
While the pacing is somewhat insane at times, Iām very appreciative of the experience. My first week I was able to close 4 accounts ($560 in profit ) with 2 of them being payable immediately (a $280 paycheck) one scheduled for Monday and another one thatās pending that will hopefully be resolved by the weekend.
Unfortunately, due to how low my total production was Iām going to have to spend Saturday in the field instead of at home, which I hate because I work on Sunday as well, and I prefer the narrative of prioritizing religious service and insurance sales on Sunday while reserving Friday Night and all day Saturday for my Family, but I suppose that was kind of the point of team night.

Big Takeaways
While the event was really fun itās important to remember that it was still business at the end of the day. Typically, I have three goals at any given event:
- Leverage the event to generate leads
- Take pictures and videos at the event
- Keep a timeline of events
Itās as simple as this: all week Iām promoting a ābig eventā that is either a local event (such as team night), or something near the office, or a national event, that requires travel or a commute. The goal is to structure the event into a āpre-gameā, āmain-eventā, and āafter-partyā; the first one usually being at the office and reserved to current team members, the second one being open to the public, and the last one being played by ear, according to who shows up to the main event.
Taking pictures at the event makes it significantly easier to both keep track of said event and promote future events.
My next ābig eventā is a sales conference in Orlando in two weeks, hopefully celebrating a birthday In between. Iāve never been to Orlando so itās pretty exciting.
