A History of Blood – Vol. 2, Chapter 10
After reviewing my career earnings and how much I earned in 2025, I finally figured out a whole life insurance policy that I’m comfortable with, so I wanted to write an article about how decided on the amount of coverage.

Practice Makes Perfect
I’ve been waiting to purchase a whole life insurance policy for awhile, but the first hurdle was deciding on a beneficiary. Similar to the way you can split a paycheck between multiple accounts, it’s also possible to split a policy between multiple beneficiaries.
Currently, the beneficiaries are as follows:
- National Alliance on Mental Illness
- York County SPCA
- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
- Babcock Presbyterian Church
- River Church Baltimore
- Sefaria.org
- Chabad Downtown Baltimore
- Temple Beth Israel (York, PA)
- My Wife*
- My Estate*
For the most part, all of the organizations above have all served extremely meaningful roles in my life, and only the last two could be considered “contingent”. I’m still working on the exact split of each one, but I’ve got time. The policy has yet to be finalized, but the most important aspects are there: a $84,000 whole life insurance policy with a cash dividend, that requires a medical exam, and will be paid off in 20 years. The only thing that is likely to change is the issue age.
On the Subject of my Wife
The subject of my wife is a bit complicated in the sense that I’m not legally married, but there’s a woman whom has my heart and would be the first person on my list. She’s my childhood friend, whom I fell in love with forever ago. She’s something of a “bittersweet heart” and our love story is that of “defensive romantics”.
Publicly, she’s always been incredibly hostile while I’ve always been more aloof but our interactions in private have always been the opposite. Our love brewed secretly for 11 years until we had our first public argument which naturally ended in disaster. Despite the very public meltdowns we both had, we both attempted to connect and open up with each other, albeit in bizarre and exotic ways.
If I had to describe her, she’s something of a glass cannon. She’s really good and hurling insults and slander but absolutely horrible at dealing with it when it comes her way. She explained that she came from an abusive environment so I decided to cut her a little slack.
When I asked her to marry me, she literally said “No” so I had just assumed that was the end of it. But then she reached out to me and told me that “even though we aren’t married, I’m not allowed to marry anyone else!”
She claimed she “didn’t know her social” which if she’s not trolling me is horribly irresponsible. To make matters worse, she literally got a DUI right after our argument and instead of being able to visit her I actually just moved 1,000 miles away.

On the Subject of my Personal Life
At the end of January I ended up moving to Tampa, Florida, and I’m currently in the process of moving my residency. With the change came a lot more privacy, so now I’m in a position to actually have a personal life in addition to finally being able to return to work.
On the Subject of my Insurance Business
I spent all day working on a Facebook page literally just drafting subjects to write about or make videos on, and eventually I realized that I have to move my entire business to Tampa which has been an administrative nightmare.
I’ll probably change the name of my Facebook page to “PHP Agency Tampa Office”, and update the address and phone number as soon as I get a chance. I’m working on doing it as soon as possible, but it might be a few weeks, as the move from Baltimore to Tampa absolutely wrecked my personal finances.
That being said, there’s enough subject matter on the Facebook page for me to have content to publish for the next 6-12 or so months, and I’ve figured out a very good strategy for lead generation, which really isn’t any different from before, it with the exception of it being my primary focus.

What I’ve learned over the course of writing this blog
When I started writing this blog, my struggle was that I would sometimes let my personal narrative get it the way of the corporate story that I was trying to tell. I didn’t actually start recruiting until after I finished Chapter 3 and while Chapters 4-5 were a step in the right direction, Chapters 6-8 were a step in reverse. Surprisingly, it was my wife that helped me get the story back on track, so I’ll have to thank her in person the next time I see her.
The Insurance business genuinely does NOT work if your spouse is not involved, and I genuinely cannot stress enough how important it is to get them involved if you want to be a successful agent, and I think that advice is applicable to any career, with the same rules applying to a business plan.
My business plan, for the most part, can be summarized into the following:
- Social Events – art, music, sports, fitness, fashion, firearms, birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays
- Social Media – advertising and marketing the above events.
- Business Meals – informal discussions about our products, opportunity, and network
- Business Trips – making an effort to attend social events in different markets.
- Retention – rewards programs designed to reward our long-term agents and clients
- Referrals – rewards programs designed to reward referrals to partners within our network.
It works because it’s really simple.
Best part is that I don’t actually have to show my wife’s face or use her name.
